The “Proceedings of the Twelfth Higher Education International Conference on Teaching and Learning Quality Assurance in Higher Education under the Pandemic” of Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) has now been published. The proceedings are a collection of selected papers from the online conference of the same name co-organised by MPI and the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) in November 2020. The sudden COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 has brought great challenges to the higher education sector, and this conference was held in order to build an exchange platform for education coping with the global pandemic, and the opportunities and challenges of online education. The conference has received positive feedback from educators and scholars from around world. The publication of the proceedings provides an important reference value for the academic community to understand the teaching and learning quality assurance measures and practices of higher education institutions around the world in response to the pandemic.

The proceedings brings together various conference papers covering such topics as quality assurance, digital education, assessment methods and tools, online learning, and virtual internships. The authors are from the United Kingdom, Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan and other countries as well as Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao. In addition to the selected conference papers, the proceedings also include the keynote speeches: “The Role of Quality Assurance Agencies and Working in Partnership for Home, Transnational and International Higher Education during the Pandemic” by Mr. Douglas Blackstock, Chief Executive of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education from the UK; “Building Online Teaching Skills in HEIs through the Third Wave of Online Education” by Professor Ronghuai Huang, Dean of the Smart Learning Institute, Beijing Normal University; “Training Teachers on Online Teaching Skills and Pedagogy: Challenges and Implications” by Professor Sonny Shiu-Hing Lo, Deputy Director, School of Professional and Continuing Education, the University of Hong Kong; and “APQN Survey: the COVID-19 Impact in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)” by Professor Jianxin Zhang, President of APQN.

The “Proceedings of the Twelfth Higher Education International Conference on Teaching and Learning Quality Assurance in Higher Education under the Pandemic” is now available at the Public Information Centre, the Seng Kwong Bookstore (MPI Branch) and the Macao Cultural Plaza. The electronic version of the proceedings is released simultaneously.
