Summary:
This book is a compilation of 21 papers presented at the Academic Conference on “‘One Country, Two Systems’ and the Active Integration of the Macao SAR in National Development” held in June 2019. Scholars from the Mainland and Macao discussed both Macao’s advantages and shortcomings in economic and social development since its return to China 20 years ago, and analyzed the future development of Macao and its integration into the development of the country. The first section of this book, which consists of 4 articles, is about the experience of Macao practising the “One Country, Two Systems” policy and the constitutional basis of the Macao SAR. The second section, which consists of 5 articles, is about how Macao can participate in the construction of the Greater Bay Area proactively. The third section, which consists of 5 articles, is about some ideas of institutional construction and improvement of governance in the process of Macao integrating into the development of the country. The forth section, which consists of 7 articles, is about the traditional advantages of Chinese and Western cultures in Macao and the achievements and challenges of the socio-economic development of the Macao SAR in the past 20 years.
