About MPU

MPU is a comprehensive and public university. The University cherishes its long-held devotion to and love for the motherland and Macao SAR. We continue to be guided by our motto of “Knowledge, Expertise, and Global Vision” to promote the strategic role of Macao as “One Center, One Platform and One Base”. We do this in alignment with China’s Belt and Road Initiative, the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, We are committed to cultivate talented individuals to serve the country and Macao SAR.

With the support of the government, MPU has entered a new era of development. The University is the first higher education institution in Asia that has passed the institutional review of the UK Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). It is the first and only institution in Macao to have twice secured the “National Teaching Achievement Award” in higher education. We have also established the first and only “Engineering Research Centre of Applied Technology on Machine Translation and Artificial Intelligence” affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in the Hong Kong and Macao area. MPU is also the only higher education institution in China that was three times awarded the "APQN Quality Award".

MPU is committed to promoting sustainable socio-economic development through education. MPU has achieved notable success in the Times Higher Education World University Impact Rankings 2024, ranking between 301^st and 400^th globally. At the same time, MPU has advanced to the 72^nd position globally and the 23^rd position in Asia in the scope of “Decent Work and Economic Growth” among the sustainable development goals of the United Nations. MPU has established an extensive, continuous cooperation network linking the Greater China regions, Portuguese-speaking countries and English-speaking countries. Looking to the future, MPU strives to further highlight its distinctive academic programmes while continuing to cooperate with prestigious universities around the world, and we will strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the mainland. By collaborating innovatively with cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, we will compose a new chapter of in-depth cooperation between Guangdong and Macao in Hengqin.
