MPI’s Bachelor of Arts in Chinese-Portuguese/Portuguese-Chinese Translation and Interpretation Programme Passed Academic Review by Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES), Portugal

MPI's Bachelor's programme in Chinese-Portuguese/Portuguese-Chinese Translation has successfully passed an academic review by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES), Portugal. The President of A3ES, Professor Alberto Amaral presented the programme accreditation certificate and evaluation report of the Chinese-Portuguese/Portuguese-Chinese Translation and Interpretation Programme to MPI. Professor Amaral expressed his gratitude for the unremitting efforts of MPI to bring high-quality teaching standards to the students. He also commended MPI for its continuous improvement and congratulated MPI again for the international recognition of its various programmes which adhere to international standards for higher education.

On 22nd November, the programme accreditation certificate presentation by A3ES was held at MPI. During the ceremony, President of A3ES, Professor Amaral expressed his congratulations to MPI for the successful programme review. A3ES gave their full recognition and praise of the programme's teaching quality, research development and student learning environment. Professor Amaral thanked MPI for the constructive arrangements made during the review visit, which enabled the review group to have a comprehensive picture of the operations of the programme so as to make a reliable assessment.

President of MPI, Professor Lei Heong Iok warmly welcomed Professor Amaral and expressed his gratitude to A3ES for the suggestions made during the programme review. This review helps MPI to further enhance its management of academic standards and quality, adhering to international standards and providing better learning experiences for its students. Professor Lei Heong Iok stated that the Chinese-Portuguese/Portuguese-Chinese Translation and Interpretation Programme was the first of its kind in China and was the first internationally recognized Portuguese language course in China. Graduates of this programme enjoy a fruitful career development in the area of Chinese-Portuguese translation, in the field of diplomacy, and as university faculty members.

Professor Amaral will attend the International Conference on “The New Frontiers of Teaching and Learning Quality Assurance in Higher Education” organised by Macao Polytechnic Institute and co-organised by the Asia-Pacific Quality Network on 23 - 24 November 2016 at MPI. Professor Amaral will deliver a talk on “Higher Education as Commerce: Cross-border education: a new business?” At the same time, MPI invited Professor Amaral to hold a quality assurance workshop for MPI academic staff on 23 November, so as to continuously optimize the quality assurance work and provide professional development opportunities for the faculty.
