Congratulations to MPU Student Wong Weng Ian for Winning the First Gold Medal in the University Division of the First Student (Youth) Games of the People’s Republic of China

On 6th November, during the Wushu event taking place at the Guangxi Sports Center, Wong Weng Ian, a Bachelor of Physical Education student at Macao Polytechnic University, showcased her excellent skills in the women’s optional qiangshu competition. With a score of 9.663, she claimed the first gold medal for the Macao Wushu team and the second gold medal for the Macao delegation, bringing honour to both Macao and Macao Polytechnic University. Wong Weng Ian expressed her gratitude for the support from Macao Polytechnic University.

Professor Im Sio Kei, Marcus, Rector of Macao Polytechnic University, congratulated Wong Weng Ian on her outstanding achievement and praised her for demonstrating on the national stage the spirit of perseverance and bravery that Macao Polytechnic University students possess. He regarded her as a role model for the university’s members, and encouraged Wong Weng Ian and all other student athletes from Macao Polytechnic University to continue their efforts and achieve even greater success in the upcoming competitions.

Wong Weng Ian previously won a gold medal and two bronze medals at the 8th World Junior Wushu Championships in December last year, as well as two silver medals at the 31st FISU World University Games in July this year, showcasing her remarkable performance.
