MPU Student Kwan Hoi Io’s championship artwork is being exhibited to the public in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao

To encourage students, youngsters and members of the public to express their impressions of marine life through art, and with a view to promoting public awareness on conservation of marine resources, The Municipal Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR, the Marine and Water Bureau, the Department of Natural Resources of Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, and the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation Hong Kong jointly organised the "Painting the Colorful Ocean, Protecting Our Home – Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Marine Life Drawing Competition 2022”. The competition attracted participation from young students and people from the three regions, with over 6,000 pieces of work submitted. Macao Polytechnic University Student Kwan Hoi Io, a student from the Bachelor of Arts in Design, won the Open Group Grand Champion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao.

The "Painting the Colorful Ocean, Protecting Our Home – Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Marine Life Drawing Competition 2022" attracted over 6,000 submissions. After a professional evaluation by reviewers from the three regions, Kwan Hoi Io, a student from MPU, stood out with her outstanding artwork and won the Open Group Grand Champion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao. The award ceremony was recently held at the Guangzhou Haizhu National Wetland Park. The main theme of the competition focused on marine life and marine environment conservation. It not only assessed participants' drawing skills but also their understanding and ability to express environmental conservation concepts. Kwan Hoi Io said that her inspiration was to raise awareness among people worldwide, regardless of gender, race, or age, about various issues regarding the marine environment, including ocean pollution and the destruction of marine ecosystems. She hoped to inspire everyone to protect the ocean together and restore its natural beauty. Kwan Hoi Io's championship artwork is being exhibited to the public in Macao, Hong Kong, and Guangdong.
