The Prevalence, Epidemiological, and Molecular Characterization of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in Macau (2017-2022)

Under the guidance of Associate Professor Li Kefeng, Xing Abao, a PhD student in AIDD at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Macao Polytechnic University, collaborated with Associate Professor Ye Qianhong and student Jiao Huining to publish a research paper titled "The Prevalence, Epidemiological, and Molecular Characterization of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in Macau (2017-2022)" in the international microbiology journal Microorganisms. The study, led by Xing, aimed to construct an AI model for predicting the prevalence of MRSA in Macau, providing scientific support for the development of the broader healthcare industry in the region.

This dedicated research effort targeted Macau, investigating the uniqueness of MRSA in clinical environments within the region. It assessed local MRSA characteristics from both macro and micro perspectives, analyzing the unique drug resistance and epidemiological patterns of MRSA through the utilization of various genetic and microbiological methods, combined with artificial intelligence algorithms. The research findings provide tailored preventive measures and scientific evidence for strategies to combat MRSA transmission and treatment.

Microorganisms is an international academic journal published by MDPI, focusing on the field of microbiology and covering various aspects of microbial biology research, including the ecology, evolution, genetics, physiology, and pathology of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and microbial communities. The journal is indexed in databases such as Scopus and SCIE.
