MPU Hosts Mental Health Awareness Fair in Collaboration with Government and Community, Improving Students' Physical and Mental Health
In response to World Mental Health Day on October 10th and in order to promote mental health education, enhance university students’ attention to mental and physical health, and strengthen exchanges between higher education institutions and local social service organisations, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University held the “We Care. We Shine” Mental Health Awareness Fair. This event brought together government departments and several social service organisations to jointly safeguard students’ mental and physical health. The event garnered about 2,000 individuals, fostering mental well-being and nurturing a supportive environment.
The theme of the fair was “We Care. We Shine”. The event featured interesting booth games, interactive workshops, and information on mental and physical health, including activities such as “Ten-Second Relaxation Techniques”, “Stress-relief Sachet Making”, “A Day to Breathe”, “Talk to Me, Listen to My Heart”, “Emotional Awareness”, “Understanding Depression”, “Smart Financial Management”, and “Health Check-up Stations”. These activities allowed students to learn about mental and physical health in a relaxed and enjoyable way. Participating students said that the interactive games and workshops effectively increased their attention to mental and physical health and taught them many tips for maintaining mental health and reducing stress.
The units participating in the fair include: the Health Bureau of Macao SAR, the Richmond Fellowship of Macau, the Young Men’s Christian Association of Macao, the Taipa Family Education and Support Centre of the Social Service Section of the Macau Methodist Church, the Caritas Macau Hoi Fai Life Education Resource Centre, the Psychotherapy Centre of Macao Women’s General Association, and “Chat With U — Tertiary Counselling Hotline and Online Support Programme” of Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office.
